Your Friendly Neighborhood Bike Rides

In the months of April through October, we are co-hosting bike rides in Denver's Sun Valley neighborhood for young people and families with our friends at the Sun Valley Kitchen and Sun Valley Youth Center.

Residents: This page will be updated with any date changes, weather contingency plans, or other information that you need to know before riding. It's a good idea to check in before rides or speak with a neighborhood organizer!

Community Partners & Volunteers: If you'd like to get involved on community rides, we are looking for people to assist with pre-ride preparations (such as pumping up tires, fitting helmets, and performing safety checks) and riding along with us to keep the group safe. Email denver@goodturncycles.org to explore collaboration!

REGISTER TO RIDE

Note: You must fill the waiver to be officially registered.

Sun Valley Kitchen

Sun Valley Youth Center

The Sun Valley Youth Center is a non-profit after school and summer program for kids ages five to sixteen in Denver’s Sun Valley neighborhood. They use a trauma informed, attachment-based model of caregiving to set youth and families up for success.

Sun Valley Kitchen

The Sun Valley Kitchen & Community Center is a safe and supportive space to explore life’s possibilities. The Center provides children and families in Sun Valley with opportunities for self-expression, self-awareness and personal growth, while fostering unity within the dynamic, multi-cultural neighborhood.

Ride 101

WHERE: Meet us at the Sun Valley Youth Center parking lot for all rides.

WHAT'S NEEDED: A waiver is MANDATORY to participate in any GTC ride; you can fill it out here. Always bring a water bottle and anything else that you want to bring with you on the ride. Helmets are REQUIRED. Bring your bike and helmet if you have them, or you will be fitted for each from the youth center's supply.

WHO: There are two ride options: We Ride Wednesdays (WRW) and Slow Roll Saturdays (SRS). We Ride Wednesdays are for kids in Sun Valley who can confidently ride a bike and are in grades 4 and up. Slow Roll Saturdays are for Sun Valley families of all ages; young people must be present with a parent or guardian over the age of 16. After SRS, kids can attend cooking class at the Sun Valley Kitchen!

eRENTALS: Adults can rent an eBike through GoodTurn Cycles by emailing denver@goodturncycles.org ahead of time.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Bike Shop

Our shop is open for youth in the Sun Valley neighborhood to care for their bikes!

If you are a young person in the community, pick up a Sun Valley Riders Club card from the Youth Center or Kitchen and never have to pay more to get something repaired on your bike than our shop cost + $5.

Need help fixing your bike? Come on in and we'll show you how.
